Description
Butcher Knife started with a bold red block that demanded attention. I built this piece on heavyweight paper, letting the acrylic settle into the surface while keeping some of that raw, absorbent quality you only get with paper. The dominant crimson form sits atop layered washes of soft pink and cool blue-gray, with energetic yellow zigzag marks cutting through the middle like a pulse. Up close, you’ll see where I scratched back into wet paint and drew directly over dried layers. It commands a wall without overwhelming a room. This is the kind of piece that changes with the light throughout the day — quiet in the morning, alive by evening.
