Adrienne Fonda

Canadian artist & painter

I’ve been exhibiting internationally and locally since 1998 — in Paris & Toronto. My paintings explore physical form within constructed visual chaos.

Biography

I trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, earning my MFA in 1993. I spent over a decade painting and teaching in the city.

In 2009 I brought that work to Toronto. Three decades in, the questions I’m chasing are still the same ones that got me started.

As an Artist

Every painting I make is a visual journey — organized chaos. I’m interested in how physical forms relate to each other inside a space.

I want the viewer to walk away having seen a dozen ways to read the same painting. That’s when the work is doing its job.
